மாப்பிள்ளை அழைப்பு - Reception of the bride groom (Mappilai azhaippu -Janavasam)
வாரணம் ஆயிரம் சூழ வலம் செய்து,
நாரண நம்பி நடக்கின்றான் என்றெதிர்,
பூரண பொற்குடம் வைத்துப் புறம் எங்கும்,
தோரணம் நாட்டக் கனாக் கண்டேன் தோழி நான்!
கல்யாண குணங்கள் நிறைந்த ஸ்ரீமந்நாராயணன், ஆயிரம் யானைகள் புடைசூழ,
ஊர்வலமாக வருவதால், எதிரே பொன் மயமான பூரண கும்பங்கள் வைத்து,
நகர் முழுவதும் தோரணங்கள் நாட்டியிருப்பதாக நான் கனவு கண்டேன் தோழியே!

நிச்சயதார்தம் - Announcement of wedding ceremony (Niscayatartham)
நாளை வதுவை மணம் என்று நாளிட்டு,
பாளை கமுகு பரிசடைப் பந்தற் கீழ்,
கோளரி மாதவன் கோவிந்தன் என்பான், ஓர்
காளை புகுதக் கனாக் கண்டேன் தோழி நான்!
நாளைக்குத் திருமண முகூர்த்தம் என்று நிச்சயித்து, கமுகம் பாளை
முதலியவைகளுடன் அலங்காரம் செய்யப்பட்ட பந்தலில், சிங்கம் போன்ற
நடையுடன், திருமகள் கேள்வனாகிய கோவிந்தன் என்னும் ஓர் காளை
புகுவதை நான் கனவினில் கண்டேன் தோழி!

பெரியோர்களின் அனுமதி - Dressing up bride by her sister in law (Nattanar kodi uduttal)
இந்திரன் உள்ளிட்ட தேவர் குழாமெல்லாம்,
வந்திருந்து என்னை மகட் பேசி மந்திரித்து,
மந்திரக் கோடியுடுத்தி மண மாலை,
அந்தரி சூட்டக் கனாக் கண்டேன் தோழி நான்!
இந்திரன் உள்ளிட்ட தேவர்கள் கூட்டம் இங்கே வந்து, என்னை திருமணப்
பெண்ணாக நிச்சயம் பேச, பெண் வீட்டாரும் பிள்ளை வீட்டாரும் கலந்து பேசி,
பின் தனித் தனியே சென்று பேசி முடிவு செய்து, வேத மந்திரங்கள் ஓதித்
தூய்மையாக்கிய கூறைப் புடவையைக் கொடுத்து என்னை உடுத்தச் செய்து,
துர்க்கையான நாத்தனார் மணம் மிகுந்த மாலையை எனக்குச்
சூட்டுவதாக கனவு கண்டேன் தோழி!

Durga ,my sister in law,
Draped me in the bridal saree and decked my hair with scented flowers.
காப்பு கட்டுதல் - Tying the protecting band called Kappu(KAppu kattal)
நாற்றிசைத் தீர்த்தங் கொணர்ந்து நனி நல்கி,
பார்ப்பனச் சிட்டர்கள் பல்லார் எடுத்தேத்தி,
பூப்புனை கண்ணிப் புனிதனோ டென்றன்னை,
காப்பு நாண் கட்டக் கனாக் கண்டேன் தோழி நான்!
வைதிகச் சடங்குகளில் வல்ல நல்ல அந்தணர்கள் பலரும் நான்கு திசைகளில்
இருந்து புண்ணிய தீர்த்தங்களைக் கொண்டு வந்து தெளித்து, உயர்ந்த குரலில்
மணமக்களுக்கு மங்களாசாசனம் செய்ய, பூக்களைச் சூடிய புனிதனான
அந்தக் கண்ணனுடன் என்னைச் சேர்த்து வைத்து, கங்கணக் காப்பு
கட்டுவதாக கனவு கண்டேன் தோழி!

From all four directions Brahmins brought sacred water,
Sprinkled it all over the place, Chanting the Vedas loudly and clearly,
And bound me with a sacred thread to the Pure One wearing a garland of flowers,

பிடி சுற்றுதல் - Removing the obstacles (Pidissurudal )
கதிரொளி தீபம் கலசம் உடன் ஏந்தி,
சதிரிள மங்கையர் தாம் வந்து எதிர்கொள்ள,
மதுரையார் மன்னன் அடி நிலை தொட்டு, எங்கும்
அதிரப் புகுதக் கனாக் கண்டேன் தோழி நான்!
பருவத்தாலும் வடிவத்தாலும் அழகு மிகுந்த இளம்பெண்கள்,
சூரிய ஒளி போன்ற மங்கள விளக்கையும் பொற்கலசங்களையும் தங்கள் கைகளில்
தாங்கியவர்களாக எதிர் கொண்டு அழைக்க, மதுரை மன்னன் கண்ணன்
பாதுகைகளை அணிந்தவராக பூமி அதிர கம்பீரமாக நடந்து வந்து,
உள்ளே புகுவதைக் கனவினில் கண்டேன் தோழி!

There were beautiful young damsels who held in their hands,
lamps, that dazzled like streams of sunlight, they were also holding several golden vessels and greeting,
the ruler of all the inhabitants of Mathura,
Who came striding with firm footsteps that shook the earth,

பாணி க்ரஹணம் - The groom holding hands of the bride (Panigrahanam)
மத்தளம் கொட்ட வரி சங்கம் நின்றூத,
முத்துடைத் தாம் நிரை தாழ்ந்த பந்தற் கீழ்,
மைத்துனன் நம்பி மதுசூதன் வந்து, என்னைக்
கைத்தலம் பற்றக் கனாக் கண்டேன் தோழி நான்!
மத்தள மேளங்கள் கொட்ட, வரியுடைய சங்குகளை ஊத, மைத்துனன்
முறையுள்ள நம்பியான அந்த மதுசூதனன், முத்து மாலைகள் கட்டித்
தொங்க விடப்பட்ட அழகிய பந்தலின் கீழே வந்து நின்று,
என் கைத் தலத்தைப் பற்றி அருள்வதாகக் கனவு கண்டேன் தோழி!

Mridhangam was beaten,
Conches having two stripes were blown for a long time,
My would be husband the handsome Madhusudhanan came to the pandal,
That was decorated with strings of pearls,
And took my hands in his!

ஸப்தபதி - Taking seven steps together, wedding vows (saptapati)
வாய் நல்லார் நல்ல மறையோதி மந்திரத்தால்,
பாசிலை நாணல் படுத்துப் பரிதி வைத்து,
காய்சின மாகளி றன்னான் என் கைப்பற்றி,
தீவலம் செய்யக் கனாக் கண்டேன் தோழி நான்!
வேத உச்சரிப்பில் வல்லவர்களான வேதியர்கள் சிறந்த வேதத்
தொடர்களை ஓத, அந்தந்தச் சடங்குகளுக்கு உரிய மந்திரங்களாலே,
பசுமையான தர்ப்பைகளையும், ஸமித்துகளையும் பரத்தி வைத்து
வேள்வி செய்து, சினம் கொண்ட மத யானை போன்ற கண்ணன்
என் கையைப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டு அக்னியை வலம் வருவதை,
கனவினில் கண்டேன் தோழி!

Mantras were chanted by priests,

The sacred grass with green leaves were spread and sacred twigs [used in hommam] were laid on them
One who is as proud as a angry elephant clasped my hands tightly and strode majestically around the sacrificial fire with me in tow,

அம்மி மிதித்தல் - Stepping on the stone (ammi midittal)
இம்மைக்கும் ஏழேழ் பிறவிக்கும் பற்றாவான்,
நம்மை உடையவன் நாராயணன் நம்பி,
செம்மை யுடைய திருக்கையால் தாள் பற்றி,
அம்மி மிதிக்கக் கனாக் கண்டேன் தோழி நான்!
இந்தப் பிறவிக்கும், மேல் வரும் எல்லாப் பிறவிகளுக்கும் அடைக்கலமான
பற்றுக்கோடாக, நமக்கு நாயகத் தலைவனாக உள்ள நம்பியான நாராயணன்,
தன் செவ்விய திருக்கையால் எனது கால்களைப் பிடித்து அம்மியின் மேல்
எடுத்து வைப்பதைக் கனவினில் கண்டேன் தோழி!

In this birth as well as in all succeeding seven into seven births,
The protector in all such births,
Our leader the one with noble qualities! Perfect and whole!
The handsome Narayana ,
With his reddened hands held and placed my toe on the grinding stone!

பொறி இடுதல் - Offering of puffed rice (laja homam)
வரிசிலை வாள்முகத் தென்னைமார் தாம் வந்திட்டு
எரிமுகம் பாரித்து என்னை முன்னே நிறுத்தி,
அரிமுகன் அச்சுதன் கைம்மேலென் கைவைத்து,
பொரிமுகந் தட்டக் கனாக் கண்டேன் தோழி நான்!
வில்லினை ஒத்த புருவமும், ஒளி பொருந்திய முகமும் கொண்ட
என் தமையன்மார்கள் வந்து, ஹோம குண்டத்தில் நெருப்பை இட்டு வளர்த்து,
என்னை அதன் முன்னே நிறுத்தி, அச்சுதனான அந்தக் கண்ணன் கைமேல்
என் கையை வைத்து, பொரிகளை அள்ளி அக்னியில் சேர்ப்பதைக் கனவினில் கண்டேன் தோழி!

arimugan achuthan kai mel en kai vaithu
pori mugam thatta kana kanden thozhi naan
My brothers bearing bright countenance, eyebrows, arched and bent like a bow,
Kindled the sacrificial fire making it to leap into flames,
And brought me in front of that fire ,
And placed my hands in the hands of Achchuda,
Who has the bearing ,that of a majestic lion !
And they [ brothers] showered puffed rice over our clasped hands!
Friend ! So I saw in my dream!
மஞ்சள் நீர் தெளித்தல்-Visiting friends and relatives and taking holy bath (Manjal neerattal )
குங்குமம் அப்பிக் குளிர்ச் சாந்தம் மட்டித்து,
மங்கல வீதி வலம் செய்து மணநீர்,
அங்கவ னோடு முடஞ்சென்றங் கானைமேல்,
மஞ்சன மாட்டக் கனாக் கண்டேன் தோழி நான்!
ஹோமப் புகையின் முன்னே நெடுநேரம் நின்றிருந்ததால் ஏற்பட்ட
வெப்பத்தைத் தணித்து குளிரூட்டும் வகையில் குளிர்ந்த குங்குமக் குழம்பை
உடலில் பூசி, சந்தனத்தை நிறையத் தடவி விட்டனர். பின் அங்கிருந்த ஒரு
யானையின் மீது நான் கண்ணனுடன் கூடி அமர, அலங்காரம் மிகுந்த தெருக்களிலே
திருமண ஊர்வலம் வந்து, நிறைவாக வாசனை நீரில் மஞ்சன
நீராட்டுவதைக் கனவினில் கண்டேன் தோழி!
kumkugam appi kuLirchandham mattithu
magala veedhi valam seidhy maNaneer
angavanodum udanchenranganai mel
manjanamaatta kana kanden thozhi naan
Smearing the pastes of kungumam and fragrant and cool chandan all over our bodies ,
Relishing the sprinkling of perfumed water on us, by all those gathered around
I went around the decorated town on a elephant along with him seated by my side!
Friend! So I saw in my dream!
பாராயண பலன் - Benefits of the sloka recitation (Parayana palan)
ஆயனுக் காகத்தான் கண்ட கனாவினை,
வேயர் புகழ் வில்லி புத்தூர்க்கோன் கோதை சொல்,
தூய தமிழ்மாலை ஈரைந்தும் வல்லவர்,
வாயு நன் மக்களைப் பெற்று மகிழ்வரே!!
வேயர் குலத்தில் புகழ் மிக்க திருவில்லிபுத்தூர் தலைவரான பெரியாழ்வாரின்
